The Emerald Sketch Art Therapy Response Team (or A.R.T.) is my global organization with the mission to implement immediate needs trauma response programming post-disaster. The Emerald Sketch trains art therapists and clinicians to work with children and families within their communities to heal symptoms of post traumatic stress and complex grief due to unforeseeable mass community tragedy.
This organization grew out of my work responding to the tragedy at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut in 2012, where I served as the Director of Child Therapy following the massacre. During this time, The Emerald Sketch expanded to serve hundreds of families in Newtown and Sandy Hook, CT, USA.
Since 2012, I’ve trained clinicians to quickly mobilize and establish creative arts therapy-based trauma response treatment programs following various large scale traumatic events.
The Emerald Sketch provides:
clinical training in trauma response to eligible Creative Arts Therapists, empowering them to help clients turn trauma and grief symptoms into resiliency and greater internal balance. Trainings are available in-person and virtually, please see Upcoming Trainings for more information.
direct clinical services or connection to qualified clinicians for families, communities, or organizations with a recent history of trauma or loss. Please contact me if your community is in need of support.
