Roxygen app

My app, Roxygen, teaches creative coping skills and mind-body processes to boost and elevate self awareness. These exercises are rooted in neurobiology and art therapy methods applied for trauma survivors and first responders following mass disasters.

The innovative practices introduced in the app strengthen neural pathways and build greater resiliency to cope with stress, as well as improve mind-body responses to traumatic memories and/or stressful situations. These research driven techniques will take you through an "inward eye process," inviting you to identify your own symbols of safety, build a greater understanding of yourself, and enable you to maintain maximum focus in every moment you choose.

Feel calm, even when in crisis. Roxygen is here to truly help you break through the isolating and upsetting emotions and help you come up for air.

The Emerald Sketch A.R.T. (Art therapy Response Team)

The Emerald Sketch Art Therapy Response Team (or A.R.T.) is my global organization with the mission to implement immediate needs trauma response programming post-disaster. The Emerald Sketch trains art therapists and clinicians to work with children and families within their communities to heal symptoms of post traumatic stress and complex grief due to unforeseeable mass community tragedy.

This organization grew out of my work responding to the tragedy at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut in 2012, where I served as the Director of Child Therapy following the massacre. During this time, The Emerald Sketch expanded to serve hundreds of families in Newtown and Sandy Hook, CT, USA.

Since 2012, I’ve trained clinicians to quickly mobilize and establish creative arts therapy-based trauma response treatment programs following various large scale traumatic events.

The Emerald Sketch provides:

  • clinical training in trauma response to eligible Creative Arts Therapists, empowering them to help clients turn trauma and grief symptoms into resiliency and greater internal balance. Trainings are available in-person and virtually, please see Upcoming Trainings for more information.

  • direct clinical services or connection to qualified clinicians for families, communities, or organizations with a recent history of trauma or loss. Please contact me if your community is in need of support.

Thrive Global articles

I contribute written pieces on art therapy, trauma response, meditation and more to Thrive Global. These pieces weave together personal storytelling, the history and neuroscience behind creative therapeutic strategies, and practical tools that you can try at home.
