Healing arts for the soul.

Artist, Songwriter, Producer, and Art Psychotherapist.

ATR-BC (Registered & Board Certified Art therapist) LCAT (Licensed Creative Arts Therapist in New York State)

With over 15 years of experience as an artist and clinical art therapist, I have witnessed tenfold how art heals. I have also seen the need for response systems that can help children and families in the moment of crisis.

My mission is to create a vast array of therapeutic creative tools that empower all people to integrate arts strategies in their own homes and everyday lives.

“Calming a Panic”

New Release Sept 15

You and Us is my musical collaboration with Wyndham Garnett. The virtual band applies art therapy trauma response sequences to rock and pop music.

The Toy Insider Review for Calming a Panic! Recorded at Old Soul Studios, Catskill, NY

Our debut album, For Children of All Ages, is born from a combination of my clinical expertise, my experience as a parent of a small child throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and the healthful relationships with the talented musicians who accompany me. The album is an everyday tool that supports parents, children, and all people working with or raising children.

Virtual Guided Healing Arts for Adults and Adolescents

My app, Roxygen, teaches creative coping skills and mind-body processes to boost and elevate sensations and self awareness. These exercises are rooted in neurobiology and art therapy methods applied for trauma survivors and first responders following mass disasters.

Art Therapy Response Team for Trauma

The Emerald Sketch is the organization that I founded following my work responding to the tragedy at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut in 2012. Our global mission is to train local clinicians to work with children and families within their communities to heal symptoms of post traumatic stress and complex grief associated with unforeseeable tragedy.

“The music of You & Us falls comfortably in the realm of sophisticated indie rock with warm hints of folk, jazz, and tropicalia. The blend of horns, acoustic & electric guitars, piano, and a soft driving rhythm section make for a relaxing and danceable backdrop to the overall message.

Nicole’s vocals go from spoken-word storytelling in one song, to soothing melodic singing in another. Her voice is equally reminiscent of the big band era as it is an 80’s pop star. Finally some music for the children that the parents can groove to. For fans of Wilco, The Band, Mr. Rogers, and Jimmy Buffet.”

— Mike Willcox, Artist & Musician

“Ms. Porter sees how creating artwork in a therapeutic setting allows her patient’s minds to be in a safe place while they process. Her passion to bring art therapy to communities, teach other clinicians how to mobilize, and secure funding to support creative arts based trauma response treatment programs is invaluable!”

— Joanne Prifti-Nicholas, Educator
